My New Years..... Half a Year Later

Hi! Sorry I've been MIA! My schedule has been really weird and I've kind of been "hibernating." But I'm back! Due to a lack of new photos, I decided to share some photos from New Years.... six months after New Years.
My family and I go up to New York City every New Years to celebrate with family friends. We went to a museum (which I forgot the name of) and it was gorgeous. My favorite room had windows covering it and a giant wishing pond. The windows left a gorgeous reflection on the water, and I couldn't resist snapping a picture.

This is Leo, and he's I've known him longer than any other of my friends. Our mothers went to college together. I'd also like to thank Leo for tolerating me taking photos of him. He's full of energy, and probably didn't like sitting still for a photo, but he did. He's a very good model.

Leo's cousin Lily was also in town. Lucky for me, she is photogenic and I got a few pictures of her!

After the museum, I walked around the city a little bit with my parents. New York is absolutely gorgeous!
Once again I apologize for being MIA. My body is hibernating without my permission. Hopefully I'll be back later today or tomorrow!

I'm still alive!

Hey! Long time no post. I've had a weird schedule lately due to my foot and taking pictures is actually really hard when you can't walk. I apologize for any inconvenience. I'll photograph several different posts today, which I'll save as drafts. Thanks!

Journal Day Response #13

Hi! Today's post is a response to Danielle's Journal Day prompts. This week's prompt is:
"This week, write a "State of Me" address. Write about how you're really doing- what you've been thinking, what you've been up to. What have you accomplished lately? Where is there room for growth? Where are you right now in life and where are you headed? Current joys, currents sadness...write it all out. Discuss the current state of YOU. "

This is what I currently look like. I've been wearing no makeup for the past few days. It feels good to give my face a break. Makeup is one of my requirements for leaving the house, so I rarely leave without it. I also haven't washed my face in a couple days, which feels gross because my skin still feels weird from the hospital. The hospital air was very dry and did nothing to improve my skin. Not being able to wash my face is driving me crazy.
Emotionally I'm doing better that usual. It's probably because I'm on Summer break and school is out for a while. Honestly, I don't have much to say at all:(
I have something exciting planned for tomorrow!

Please Read!

Due to my schedule, I may not post until either very late tonight or tomorrow. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Makeup Tutorial: A Beautiful Mess

Hi! In case you didn't know A Beautiful Mess is the first blog that I've ever read, and I will read it forever. Elsie and Emma's book about photography brought the concept of blogging into my life. Blogging is one of my favorite things in the world, and  I thought: Why not create a makeup tutorial inspired by the term "A Beautiful Mess?" This is my way of saying thank you to the two sisters. The look isn't a look inspired by Elsie & Emma's everyday styling routines (routines are on this page), but it is a colorful, bold, gorgeous look--just like their blog! This is enough rambling from me. Let's get started!
Start with a clean, makeupless face. This look is kinda heavy on all parts of the makeup, and you don't want any leftover makeup combined with the new makeup.

To moisturize my face, I used Bobbi Brown's Hydrating Face Cream. I only have the sample size because the full size is quite expensive, but I think it's worth the money. This also works as a face primer so your makeup just glides on.

For my face makeup, I'm going to apply a medium sized layer of my Bobbi Brown BB Cream. I apply it with my fingers so that I can warm up the product to blend it into my skin better.

Next I used my Bobbi Brown Correcter. I used this instead of my regular under eye makeup because it gives a little but more coverage. The BB cream gave me better coverage than usual because I applied a thicker layer than usual, and I wanted my under eye area to match that.

To set my face makeup I used my Bobbi Brown Sheer Pressed Powder. Normally this would stop my face from shining, but it's 100 degrees in my hometown & the air conditioner in my room doesn't work, my face started sweating and created a shine.

To put some color into my cheeks, I used the blush shade in the middle, and I applied it to the apples of my cheeks and blended up my cheek bones.

For my eyebrows, I used the brown product with a creamy texture located in the very bottom right corner. I used a clean paint brush to apply it. Then I brushed my brows out with a brow brush to make it look more natural.

This is the ELF palette that I used for my eyes. As you can see it's very colorful. This is definitely my favorite part of the look because it's so colorful... Yes, I know. I'm a color junkie.

As an eye shadow base color, apply an off white eyeshadow color with a jewel undertone to it with my ELF Eyeshadow "C" Brush. It will give a nice base to the makeup. I also recommend using an eye primer. I just bought one, but I forgot to use it since it's not in my makeup routine to use eye primer.

Using another clean paint bush, apply a shimmery pink eye shadow to your crease and blend it out. I used the color at the bottom of the column of pink shades.

Using my Forever 21 Crease Brush, I applied & blended a purple color onto my outer corner. I mixed the two middle colors of the purple column in my palette.

Taking my ELF Eyeshadow "C" Brush again, I packed the brightest green shade in the palette onto the inner part of my lid.

Using my Forever 21 Crease Brush again, I applied a very bright blue to my crease just above the pink. Start to blend. The brush I was using didn't completely blend it, but I was going to do some touch-ups, so I didn't blend all the way.

Next I took my ELF Professional Eyeshadow Brush and I applied a bright pink blush to make the pink shade more vibrant.
My camera battery was dying, so I was unable to photography the next step, but I took my ELF Professional Blending Brush, and blended out the blue. I didn't want to blend the other shades as much because I didn't want to mix the pink and green.

Using my Forever 21 Liner Brush, I lined my upper lash line with a navy blue eyeshadow and my outer bottom lash line with the same green shade I used earlier on my lids.

To finish off my eyes, I applied two very generous coats of my Lancome Hypnose Custom Volume Mascara. This is definitely my new favorite mascara. It makes my lashes look awesome!

To finish off the look, I used my Blackheart Beauty Lipstick from Hot Topic. This is an extremely bright color, and I absolutely love it.
Here's the finished look!
This post is a huge thank you to Emma and Elsie. I wouldn't have discovered blogging if I hadn't gotten their book and started reading their blog. I wouldn't have discovered what I want to do when I get older.
If you try this makeup tutorial, tweet it to me. You could also tell me what helped you find your biggest hobby/passion in the comments. I'd love to hear what you guys are passionate about!
Have a great day!

Summer Look Book

Hello! Today I has a mini photo shoot with my girl Chloe, and since we had multiple Summer-appropriate outfits, I decided to make this into a look book. There are three outfits (girly, bright, edgy/formal) and one makeup look. Let's get started!

This makeup look is very classic. Winged eyeliner with a pink or red lip. Face makeup is optional for this look, but since Chloe has flawless skin, I didn't bother with any makeup for her face.

  1. Apply a medium to dark brown eye shadow all over your lids.
  2. Take a shimmery black eyeshadow and put it into the crease and outer corner.
  3. Blend. Blend. Blend.
  4. Take a black pencil liner and create a think line and draw on a wing.
  5. Go over the pencil liner with liquid liner so the liner will stay longer.
  6. Apply a mascara that gives lots of length and volume to your lashes.
  7. Apply a rosy blush and a pink or red lipstick to finish off the look.

Boom! Makeup done.

Look One: Girly
I find this outfit absolutely gorgeous. It's girly but simple. Chloe picked out her own outfits, and I love how she paired two different shades of green. It isn't very visible in the picture, but the skirt was a dark green.
Shirt: Delias
Skirt: Forever 21
Look Two: Colorful
This look is probably my favorite look out of all three of the outfits because I'm attracted to bright colors.
This photo above is not my photo. This photo belongs to A Beautiful Mess, and you can find the original post here.
The outfit in the picture above is the inspiration for this outfit. I loved the idea of pairing bright leggings under another bright piece of clothing. As much as I love the pairing of two different shades of blue, I also adore Chloe's choice of picking two different colors.
Shirt: Delias
Shorts: Forever 21
Leggings: Target
Look Three: Edgy & Formal
This look was completely stunning. The dress flattered Chloe's body shape. The colors looked great. It was just fabulous! This look is formal, but the beanie hat adds a little bit of an edginess to it in my opinion. I love this dress a lot because it's black in the front and white in the back. I love the contrasts of the two colors next to eachother. Unfortunately Chloe didn't remember where the dress or beanie were from, so that will remain a mystery.
For all of the looks, Chloe wore these shoes from Target.
I love this look book, and I look forward to doing many more in the future, but for now: Have a great day!
